Wondering what to do tonight? In or Out is the daily answer to that question from Gazette music contributor Erik Leijon and writer/editor Denise Duguay.

Go out: Local singer-songwriter Jason Bajada, a proficient lyricist in either language, mined the emotions of a tumultuous year full of ups and downs on his second French LP, Volcano. Tonight’s record launch is going with a different format than usual: A ticket purchase comes with a copy of the album, and it’s also an early one with a 7 p.m. start-time. So get there early and enjoy a short, sweet, intimate performance from Bajada. At 7 p.m. at Phi Centre, 407 St-Pierre St. Tickets $10 or free with proof of album purchase. EL

Stay in: I’ve got two for you today.

Louis CK’s great sitcom on FX, Louie, is still on hiatus (come back, Louie!), but the powerhouse comedian is now two episodes into a new series, Horace and Pete (louisck.net). Go to the site, PayPal him $5 U.S. for the debut, $2 U.S. for Episode 2 and $3 for the next few, rolling out over the next few Saturdays, and start watching. Horace and Pete is the story of a century-old dive bar in Brooklyn, run by a family. Or does the bar run the family? Right into the ground? Staged like a play, with no laughtrack and one hauntingly beautiful theme song performed by Paul Simon, Horace and Pete is a disturbing drama about a family coming apart. By the end, you’ll wonder what’s left, but if you’re like me, you’ll really, really want to know what happens next. CK plays the latest in a long line of Horaces to Steve Buscemi’s fragile Pete. Alan Alda is their vile Uncle Pete. Jessica Lange is a little more than a barfly. Steven Wright nods, nearly mute, as Nick Di Paolo and bar mates rip apart Trump and Cruz and the general state of American political sloth. But when their sister (Edie Falco) arrives with a threat to sell the bar, the seams rip open wide. It’s rough work, shaggy as the opening night of a new play, but it grabs you and you won’t want to let go.

Stay in Option 2 is on real TV: Eläma aka Montreal sisters Rim and Rita Elias’s fur, leather and cashmere couture will be featured tonight at 8 p.m. on CBC’s Dragon’s Den. DD
